Welcome to Ms. Smith’s 2nd Grade Class! I am so excited to welcome students back to LCCS and have a year full of learning and fun! In our classroom, students are expected to embrace our CIRCLE values and strive to be the best person and student they can be.

Curriculum

During the school year, we will learn and grow through the exploration of our different units of study in Reading, Writing, Science, Math, and Social Studies, which include the following:

Categorical Data

Each unit of study will include the use of class discussions, group or partner activities, rich literature and nonfiction articles, hands-on activities and projects, and culminating unit activities and celebrations.

Specials

This year, our class will have the following specials:

On Mondays, we will have Music and Art.

On Tuesdays, we will have Technology.

On Wednesdays, we will have Physical Education and Art.

On Thursdays, we will have Physical Education.

On Fridays, we will have Music.

For Physical Education, students will need to wear sneakers to participate in class.

We LOVE Reading!
Each month, a Scholastic flyer will be sent home. You can also access our Scholastic flyer and class book club at https://orders.scholastic.com/R4C7R. Scholastic has a variety of fiction and nonfiction books, as well as DRA leveled books for students. I will also have a wishlist for our classroom and recommended books for students uploaded to our book club. Purchasing books through Scholastic helps our class earn free books and also helps your child foster a continued connection with reading. Please consider ordering throughout the school year.
